Cycling to the Festival

The members of the Association Novi Sad’s Bicycle Initiative, Cikloteka and Invictabike will join the citizen procession during the opening ceremony of this year’s Street Musicians Festival, on Thursday 1st September at 19:30 (7:30 PM). Simultaneously the association and the Festival organizers are calling all citizens of Novi Sad to come to the Suburbium by bicycle, during the remaining two days of the event, in order to promote a healthy lifestyle and to avoid jams, since during the afternoon and evening hours the streets of that part of Petrovaradin will be closed off for traffic.

Just like the citizens, Novi Sad’s Cyclists will also gather on Thursday, 19h (7 PM), at Liberty Square, in order to take part in ceremonial procession which will move through Modena Street and Mihajlo Pupin Boulevard, across the bridge, to Belgrade Gate, where the opening ceremony of the Festival will take place with the performance by American band Moon Hooch. The procession will be led by the Brazilian visual artist duo VJ Suave, who will perform their interactive video-projections on the surrounding facades also riding their bicycles. All visitors who arrive at the Festival by bicycle a temporary parking lot for two-wheelers will be set, to the right of the bridge at the entrance to the Suburbium.

Novi Sad’s Bicycle Initiative is a non-profit citizens’ organization gathered around the need to regulate various questions and problems associated with riding two-wheelers, such as the restoration of existing bicycle lanes in the city, the construction of new ones, general traffic security, etc. The association is also continuing to promote a healthy lifestyle and urban cycling as one of the sources of energy efficient and sustainable development, in accord with urban living requirements and similar global trends.

The Street Musicians Festival is organized by the Art Association “Inbox” from Novi Sad. The Festival will be held from 1st to 3rd September at the Suburbium of Petrovaradin Fortress.
