Funk Shui, Dolores, Oxajo at this year’s Festival of Street Musicians – Gradić Fest

Festival of street musicians – Gradić fest will host regional performers again this year. Funk Shui, Dolores, Oxajo are just some of the names whose performance we expect in the suburbs of the Petrovaradin fortress. This year, we will complete the festival program with classical music with the desire to bring artistic music closer to the audience. 

FUNK SHUI is an eclectic collective based in North Macedonia, driven by an insatiable curiosity to explore new avenues of musical expression. Since their first album “Aether” in 2012, FUNK SHUI has been constantly evolving, perfecting their vision and sound.

Apart from them, Oxajo – a new pop-rock band from Belgrade that gathered talented musicians already well-known on the scene: Dukat Strajnić and Ana Janković from the band Stray Dogg, Marko Ajković from the band Artan Lili and Dario Vuksanović from the band Savana – will also play on the festival stage. A unique blend of pop and rock’n’roll that combines different genres brings the audience a new and authentic sound. 

One of the favorites of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, Filip Baloš, will perform at this year’s festival. This competition brought him a large number of invitations to performances both in Serbia and throughout Europe, such as the Swedish and Polish Eurovision Pre-Parties.

Pop duo “Dolores” from Belgrade finds inspiration for its music in the new wave, in the bands of the eighties and nineties of the last century, but also in the music of contemporary alternative bands from the countries of the former Yugoslavia. In her songs, Dolores devotes herself to everyday topics, mostly dealing with real problems and feelings of imaginary characters. 

VOADO is coming to us from Croatia this year. 

You may have already seen VOADO as a member of the bands Đutko and fruits of the earth, but now he comes in a different composition, as a solo artist. “Snooze” is the first single and music video that marked the entry into the new year and the new husband’s life. The songs resonated well with listeners in Portugal and Spain, where the first live performances were performed. Sofar Sounds in Madrid stands out as one of the special ones.

In the ambience of a small baroque town, the artists will take the audience on a journey around the world with classical music. Visitors will be able to hear, among other things, the melodies of Eastern composers, the tango of Astor Piazzolla, and the always seductive Mozart. 

The Novi Sad Tango Quintet brought together musicians who previously collaborated on various musical projects, with the desire to create a tango ensemble based on the famous Piazzolla composition. The occasion for the founding of the ensemble was precisely the jubilee – 100 years since the birth of the internationally popular Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla, which was celebrated all over the world in 2021.

Many more noteworthy names make up this year’s festival program, and some of them are certainly Broodmen, Pop Hor Radio, Duo Fuego, Kreativni pogon and Duo Fuego.

The festival of street musicians – Gradić fest will be held from August 24 to 26. The festival is organized by the Art Association “Inbox” from Novi Sad with the patronage of the City of Novi Sad, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia and the Administration for the Economy of the City of Novi Sad.
