Gradić Fest starts today!
The 22nd Street Musicians Festival – Gradić Fest will be opened tonight at 7:30 p.m. with a procession and the spectacle “Les Poupées géantes” (“Giant Puppets”) by one of the leading European theaters, the French Transe Express Theatre. The procession will begin with a short performance at the intersection of the boulevard Bulevar Mihajla Pupina in front of the building Banovina. The procession will continue along the boulevard, across the Varadin Bridge to Beogradska Street in Gradić, where the finale of the spectacle will take place in front of the Belgrade Gate.
In addition to the procession, during the first night of the festival the audience will be able to enjoy the performances by the Italian band Bandakadabra and the Australian musician Ziggy McNeill, who will perform several times at the festival points on the cobblestones of Gradić during the three festival days.
This year’s foreign program will be completed by the Italian street performer Lorenzo Gianmario Galli – GALiRò, multi-instrumentalist Porca Pizza, and the great fighter for the rights of street musicians Claudio Montuori – Birdman, who will this time perform together with the guitarist Massimo Bizzarri in the band called BizBuz.
The local and regional artists will be headed by Fantom, the bands from Zagreb Porto Morto and Đutko i plodovi zemlje, and the Belgrade band Retrospektiva. Returning to the Street Musicians Festival this year are the Slovenian artists gathered in the association KUD Ljud, who will do their music and dance performance “What we are (were)”.
Many more noteworthy names make up the program of this year’s Gradić Fest, some of which are the bands from Novi Sad Lepša Brena and See it my way, the Croatian band Revirgin, Belgrade’s Niko Nikolić i Ništavila, and many others.
In addition to the music program, on Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. within the Gradić Cinema the audience will have the opportunity to watch short films from the selections of the Festival of Female Film Authors and the Film Front festival.
The points where the program of this year’s Gradić Fest will be held are: the stage in front of the Belgrade Gate, the stage on Rampin Put, Štrosmajerova Street and Beogradska Street, and the Gradić Cinema.
The Street Musicians Festival – Gradić Fest is organized by the Art Association INBOX with the support of the City of Novi Sad and the Provincial Secretariat for Culture.
Traffic will be regulated as follows:
– The ban will be valid at the parking lot on the boulevard Bulevar Mihajla Pupina, from Pionirska Street to Modena Street, from August 24th 8 a.m. to August 25th 9 p.m.;
– For the needs of the procession, the ban will be valid on the boulevard Bulevar Mihajla Pupina, from Žarka Zrenjanina Street to the road to the Petrovaradin Fortress, on August 25th in the period from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.;
– The ban will also be valid from the square Trg vladike Nikolaja to the road to the fortress, from August 25th to August 27th, in the period from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. of the next day, as well as on August 28th until 2 a.m.
Festival timetable and map at the info desk
The program of the festival, with a detailed timetable and map of all events in Gradić, will be available to the visitors at the information desk at the beginning of Beogradska Street.
