Cinema City also a part of Gradić Fest
This year, international film festival Cinema City is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The 10th Cinema City will take place from 1st to 3rd September in the Lower Town of the Petrovaradin Fortress, as a part of Gradić Fest. As in previous years, this important cinematographic event will offer an unconventional film selection and exciting program, focused on younger authors and independent productions.
After the last year’s successful cooperation with the Street Musicians Festival at the new venue, in the Lower Town of Petrovaradin, this year’s event will be held as a part of Gradić Fest, which is a cooperation of these two big festivals and other organizations with similar ideas and goals, such as Festival 9, Pop Up Novi Sad (Berberaj & Public P), Scenatoria, Suburbium, Fruškać, Happy Trash Production and AAA festival.
Cinema City’s program will include about 60 works by independent productions. The films will be organized into five selection groups: “National Class”, a selection of the newest domestic films, “360 Degrees”, which will include independent productions from all over the world, “Fresh Danube Films”, which will present the newest debut and second films by directors from the Danube region, “Up to 10,000 Bucks”, a selection of low-budget films from all over the globe, and “Planet Rock”, a selection of exciting music documentaries.
This year, Cinema City’s academic program, which is meant to support networking among professionals and educate the viewers, will include educational content – filmmaking workshops for children, seminars for professionals who use creative industries in their work with young people, panels which will present possibilities for financing films, and similar content. This year’s program of Cinema City festival will be held in the Lower Town, as a part of Gradić Fest, in Lisinskog Street, Vladimira Nazora Street, Beogradska Street, Rampin put (the path that goes down form the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Vojvodina to the steps of the Petrovaradin Fortress), and it will be entirely free for the visitors.
Cinema city has been attended by about 300,000 film fans, and 1020 regional and international films have been screened so far.
