Bandakadabra (Turin/Italy)

Bandakadabra

Whenever Italians come to Gradić, merriment ensues! This contemporary walking orchestra of brass instruments, strengthened by a drum battery, successfully merges pure street energy and the long tradition of perfect harmonization of big brass bands.

“Urban fanfare” – the name given to them by their fans – was founded in an important industrial and sports center in northern Italy, and the band has been developing through experiments with different music genres. This variety, ranging from the sounds of street bands similar to rampageous Balkan brass bands, rocksteady and ska sounds, to variations of modern drum ‘n’ bass, can still be noticed in the diverse repertoire of this superfun company. A special charm of their performances, on streets or stages, is their interaction with the audience, which they skillfully draw into their comedic sketches, theatre improvisations and exuberant dances, accompanied by a lot of ironic comments about the world around us. From the very beginning they have been on the move non-stop, and since the release of their debut album Entomology they have been constantly touring around the world. They will head the procession in the Lower Town on the opening day of Gradić Fest, and they will stay at the festival till the end.
