The second evening of this year\u2019s 15th Street Musicians Festival, will remain in fond memories, because we sang, cheered and danced<\/strong> on the karaoke competition, because we saw three interesting shows<\/strong> \u2013 a children\u2019s one, one socially engaged and a musical-acrobatic one, because we listened to various, exciting concerts<\/strong> and because we discovered some new, intriguing musical names. In the end, while the clock on the Cathedral was striking two after midnight, Novi Sad\u2019s audience applauded their new musical hero \u2013 Kralj \u010ca\u010dka (King of \u010ca\u010dak).<\/p>\n

\"1a\"<\/p>\n

The Festival\u2019s Karaoke Battle<\/strong><\/em> on stage in Zmaj Jovina Street lasted more than two hours. This amateur singing competition, as was expected, was followed by singing, cheering by cheerful fans. In the end the judges \u2013 composed of: Ana Peri\u0161i\u0107, Slavko Mati\u0107 and Aleksandar Savanovi\u0107 \u2013 decided that the winner would be \u017dest<\/strong>, the representative from Detelinara<\/strong>. For his hood, he won an interesting, unusual park bench, work by artist Stefan Stanojevi\u0107<\/strong>. We congratulate Detelinara from the bottom of our hearts, and we are delighted to have a chance to do something worth our while this part of town<\/strong> \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

The youngest visitors of the Festival enjoyed themselves yesterday on Liberty Square during the interactive dance show Dance, The Dance, We Dance<\/strong><\/em>, while those a bit older reflected after the performance of the troupe Creative Drive<\/strong><\/em>. Their Contemporary Circus Show: Proletarians<\/em>, played out last night in Danube Street, was a chance for the songs from the International<\/strong><\/em>, and similar ones as are Bella Ciao<\/strong><\/em> and Bandiera Rossa<\/strong><\/em>, to echo once again through the streets of Novi Sad.<\/p>\n

\"igra_igraj_igramo_se\"<\/p>\n

More easy-going and carefree was the show Sconcerto d\u2019Amore<\/em> performed by the Italian duo of street entertainers Nando e Maila<\/em>. Fernando D\u2019Andria<\/strong> and Maila Sparapani<\/strong> play ten various instruments, plus Maila is fearless circus acrobat as well. Their show presented jealousy, seduction games and a war of the sexes, with irresistible numbers as are Love Is In The Air<\/em>, L\u2019Italiano<\/em>, Felicit\u00e0<\/em>, Blue Moon<\/em> and Volare<\/em>, entertaining the audience on Liberty Square.<\/p>\n

\"3a\"<\/p>\n

Yesterday, the Italian scene of street entertainers on the Festival was also represented by the marching brass section from the ensemble BadaBimBumBand<\/strong><\/em> and dancer Lisa Pellegrini<\/strong>. The first mentioned performed several times, each time they were more entertaining and infectious than the last. The BadaBimBums<\/em> didn\u2019t spare their saxes, but, repressively, neither were the palms of Novi Sad\u2019s citizens spared either. On the other hand, Lisa Pellegrini managed to accomplish a small festival promotion of traditional Indian dance kathak<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Of course, there was a lot of musicianing yesterday as well. Diverse and passionate. On stage in the Catholic Courtyard, in high spirits was Novi Sad\u2019s seven Lepi Jova<\/em><\/strong>, smashing their Balkan Beat, Belgrade\u2019s accordion player Mi\u0161ko Plavi<\/strong> led the audience around the world<\/em>, while Rijeka\u2019s My Buddy Moose<\/em><\/strong> for the umpteenth time delighted Novi Sad\u2019s disciples of Americana and garage rock \u2018n\u2019 roll. Street entertainer from Zagreb Davor Per\u0161i\u0107<\/strong> also played well, but in Danube Street, on his modified double-bass.<\/p>\n

\"4a\"<\/p>\n

Last night \u2013 on stage in Zmaj Jovina Street and Liberty Square \u2013 musicians who arrived to the Street Musicians Festival by participating on the open-call were able to present themselves to the audience. Singer-songwriter from Sremska Mitrovica Vuk Mu\u0161kinja<\/strong>, English guitar virtuoso The Flamenco Thief<\/em><\/strong>, Hungarian trio INTU<\/em><\/strong>, gypsy jazzers from Banja Luka Nylon Club<\/strong><\/em>, Zrenjanin\u2019s jaw-harp and DJ mix Balkan Weirdos<\/em><\/strong> and the jazz, pop and rock trio from Kikinda DrvoTruo<\/strong><\/em>, judging by the reactions of the festival audience, they are on the right musical (performing, entertaining) track.<\/p>\n

Belgrade\u2019s singer-songwriter Kralj \u010ca\u010dka<\/strong> (King of \u010ca\u010dak), that is Nenad Mari\u0107, known as the Serbian Tom Waits<\/em> also arrived to this year\u2019s Street Musicians Festival via open-call. But, unlike the above mentioned, with a reputation as the best, or at least, the most exciting new local artist. His first real performance in Novi Sad, last night on Liberty Square, the audience watched closely and rewarded him with thunderous applause, especially the songs Deda Mraz je \u0161vorc<\/em><\/strong> (Santa Claus Is Broke<\/em>), Moj avatar<\/em><\/strong> (My Avatar<\/em>) and Stoj, kolega<\/strong><\/em> (Hold On, Partner<\/em>). The King accompanied by his three musicians, by the end of his gig, was long afterwards called by the audience for an encore…<\/p>\n
